2008 NCaFLL Tournaments - PRELIMINARY INFORMATION!

This is how the tournament registration process works for Northern California. More information is available in the FAQ.

We will open tournament registration on October 14th - we know that some sites will still not be confirmed. In cases where it says "site not confirmed" - this means that the organizer is committed to hosting a FLL qualifying tournament on the date but has not been able to get final confirmation on the preferred site. This may mean that the physical location may have to change but it will be within the same community [for example Washington HS instead of Mission San Jose HS for the Fremont tournament]. The goal is not to change dates unless there is no other reasonable choice.

The Process: The team coach will enter the team's name and number along with the coach's contact information. Then, the coach will need to click acceptance that he/she has read and understood 3 documents:

1) Coaches' Promise [page iii in Coaches Handbook]
2) Northern California tournament registration policy
3) Northern California tournament advancement policy

Finally, the coach will opt for 3 qualifiying tournament choices - you will be assigned to one based on availability. Note that if the coach picks a tournament that has special requirements (like Los Altos and Google as examples), the coach may not get their tournament choice even if there is space when the team registers for that tournament. The final decision about who attends a specific tournament is at the discretion of each tournament organizer.

Once you submit the above information, you will receive a confirmation page. Please print or keep a copy of the confirmation page as a receipt of your registration. [yes, Murphy's Law has bit before]. The registration system that we are using is homegrown and has had some debugging, but please bear with us if there are issues that arise.

Last year the qualifying tournaments charged $50 or less and we expect the cost to be similar this year.

We work very hard to ensure that ALL teams in Northern California that wish to compete will be able to do so and that there is enough qualifying tournament space for every team to attend one and only one qualifying tournament. We will add tournament sites as needed.

Please let us know if your team is not planning on competing this year - last year we had ~40 teams decide not to compete and this uncertainty makes it difficult to plan accurately how much space is needed.
